Our team played putt-putt recently, mostly because it’s is a game that doesn’t take much time or skill to play. But, as we played, I noticed that with a little cunning and craft – and some luck – you can get a hole-in-one. Not dissimilar to the work we do every day for our clients:
1. Get the lay of the land.
- Where is that hole, anyway? Sometimes it’s straight ahead, but other times it’s hard to see, up a hill, or in between the fake rocks.
- What are the obstacles? Tunnels, turns, rocks, walls, bridges, hills.
- What’s the best way around them, and how can I use them to my advantage? Hit that rock in the right place, and the ball will ricochet right into the hole.
2. Hit the ball.
- Power is important – too much and you miss; too little and you’re short of the hole.
3. Hit it again.
- Repetition is important in putt-putt; those greens aren’t made for easy shots.
4. Celebrate a win.
- Whether it’s luck or skill, dance a little touch-down dance.
